Departure time for Juraboev as flight with Canaries ends

PETALING JAYA: Tajikistani midfielder Amirbek Juraboev (pic) will no longer be flocking together with the Canaries.

The 27-year-old announced on his social media pages that he will be moving on from Kedah as the club will be making lots of changes to their foreign line-up next season, with Philippines international Manuel Ott the only import confirmed to be staying on.

“It was a difficult time saying goodbye to the club but this is football, this is how it is,” said Juraboev.

“I want to thank the fans, staff and most importantly, my teammates in Kedah. It was a good season for me and I enjoyed my time in Malaysia.”

Juraboev was one of the key players for Kedah last season thanks to his versatility in midfield.He can play as a defensive midfielder, advanced playmaker or box-to-box midfielder and did so with great courage this season.

In 28 games, Juraboev scored six goals and had one assist in all competitions.

He will now focus on the Asian Cup as he is selected by coach Petar Segrt for the tournament from Jan 12-Feb 10.

He is expected to play a crucial role for them in the tournament as he is the second highest-capped player in the squad with 55 appearances.

Centreback Akhtam Nazarov is the most experienced player with 76 caps.

Tajikistan are in Group A with defending Asian Cup champions Qatar, China and Lebanon.
