JDT go down 0-1 to Kawasaki Frontale in AFC Champions League opener

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) battled hard before going down 1-0 to a strong Kawasaki Frontale in their opening match of the AFC Champions League at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Tuesday (Sept 19).

Brazillian Marcinho scored the solitary goal in the 45th minute to secure three points for the Japanese club in Group I.

It was a much better display compared to JDT’s heavy 0-5 defeat to Kawasaki in last year’s edition.

In another Group I match, Ulsan Hyundi defeated BG Pathum United 3-1 in Ulsan.

JDT will look forward to bounce back in their next game when they travel to Thailand to play Pathum United on Oct 3.
