PETALING JAYA: Selangor’s Jordanian star Noor Al-Rawabdeh (pic) is here to stay.
The midfielder continues to make his presence felt with the Red Giants when he scored the winner in their 2-1 win over Penang in the Super League at the City Stadium in Georgetown on Sunday.
Colombian striker Ayron Del Valle got the ball rolling for the Red Giants in the 27th minute but the Panthers equalised in the dying stages of the game through Brazilian centreback Rafael Vitor in the 87th minute.
Al-Rawabdeh turned hero when he scored in the 90th minute to ensure the away side stole three points and remained third in the league with 10 points after four games.
It was his third goal in four games for the team coached by Tan Cheng Hoe.
The 26-year-old wants to remain the vital cog in the middle of the park for the club.
“I’m getting better in every game and have started to adapt to the league, the coaches’ style and everything here,” said the player fondly known as ‘’the engineer’’.
He has even combined well with players like captain Brendan Gan and Ghanaian Alex Agyarkwa in the midfield.
“It’s not easy to play under a new system and tactics but with time, I will get even better for sure. The chemistry among the team is getting better too,” he said.
Al-Rawabdeh has been hailed as one of the signings to watch out for this season as he has played 19 times for his nation and has been a regular for Jordan under the tutelage of coach Adnan Hamad over the past two years.
Selangor will face defending champions and league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim next at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Friday.
Al-Rawabdeh is looking forward to the big game.
“Every game is as important as the other but we know that JDT are a strong team but we also have the depth,” he said.
“I’m sure everyone is looking forward to this game and we will fight again for the three points.”
