Malaysia's run in AFF Mitsubishi Cup ends

PETALING JAYA: The fairytale is over for Malaysia.

The side led by coach Kim Pan-gon bowed out of the AFF Mitsubishi Cup after losing to Thailand 1-3 on aggregate in the two-legged semi-finals.

After winning 1-0 in the first leg in Kuala Lumpur, Harimau Malaya were outclassed in Pathum Thani, as they were humbled 3-0 by the War Elephants at the Thammasat Stadium on Tuesday (Jan 10).

Thailand's goals were scored by striker Teerasil Dangda (19th minute), winger Bordin Phala (55th) and substitute striker Adisak Kraisorn (71st).

Malaysia only had three shots in the game, as Thailand outplayed them throughout the game with great composure and intelligence.

This will be the 10th time Thailand will be playing in the final of the tournament. The side coached by Alexandre Polking will take on Vietnam in the two-legged final.
