PETALING JAYA: Darren Lok is proving to be Petaling Jaya City’s fox in the box after scoring a superb hattrick in their 3-0 Super League win against Terengganu.
Darren scored all the goals from the same area, which is the left side of Terengganu’s penalty box.
The striker’s success in the box and the win against the much-fancied side have been received well by his fans.
“Of course, I’m thrilled with the hattrick. In some matches, everything goes right, and the last match was one of those nights,” said Darren, who once played for Terengganu in 2020.
“I always find myself getting in the right areas, but sometimes it’s about being relaxed in those positions and keeping a calm head, so I guess that’s what I’ve tried to focus on. I’ve always been looking at ways to improve too. I’ve been working hard to work on my weaknesses in training.
“Every player was superb during the match. We did our job and won our one versus one battles.”
The Phoenix will now hope that the 31-year-old will continue his prowess when they take on another east coast side Pahang at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan today.
“It’s hard to tell how Pahang will be as they haven’t had many games. It will be another difficult match but we will be ready.”
PJ City’s other win is against Melaka 1-0 but they have also lost once, 1-3 to Sabah, and currently are third in the standings with six points.
