KL is in the Malaysia Cup final after 32 years

PETALING JAYA: After 32 years, Kuala Lumpur is going to the Malaysia Cup final!

They beat Melaka 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out after being held 1-1 in normal time during their second-leg semi-final game at the Hang Jebat Stadium on Friday (Nov 27).

The game had to go to extra time, as the aggregate was 2-2. In the first leg, both sides held out to a 1-1 draw at the Cheras Football Stadium.

In normal time, Kuala Lumpur drew first blood when winger J. Partiban scored in the ninth minute.

But Melaka fought back when winger Ahmad Syamim Yahya scored in the 65th minute.

But both teams were unable to get a winning goal in 30 minutes of extra time.

The game went to a penalty shootout, and the City Boys won it 5-3, with centreback Giancarlo Gallifuoco scoring the fifth and winning the penalty.
