MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) - A spectacular 25-yard strike by Caroline Weir gave Manchester City a 1-0 win over Manchester United in front of a record attendance for a Women's Super League game of 31,213 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Weir capitalised on a mistake by United captain Katie Zelem as City emerged victorious on the opening day of the season in the first professional meeting between the two neighbours.
