PETALING JAYA: Selangor has leapfrogged to third in the Super League standings after beating PKNS 3-2 at the Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday (July 20).

However, Selangor will have to wait for tomorrow's game between Kedah and Felda United in Jengka to know if they finish the season in third.

Currently, Selangor is third in the league with 37 points after completing 22 matches in the league, whilst Kedah dropped to fourth with 34 points, but still have one game in hand.

In the game in Shah Alam, Nigerian hotshot Ifedayo Olusegun proved to be a real live wire for the Red Giants, scoring Selangor’s second (43rd) and third (52nd) goal. Sandro Mendonca notched the first goal in the 41st minute.

It was PKNS, though, which first broke the deadlock in the 3rd minute through a Romel Morales header, and they fought back after falling behind through centreback Tamirlan Kozubaev in the 77th minute.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

In Kuantan, Pahang ended the season on a high note after thrashing Melaka 4-1 at the Darul Makmur Stadium.

Namibian striker Lazarus Kaimbi scored two goals in the 1st and 68th minute, while Mohamadou Sumareh and Saddil Ramdani scored in the 40th and 90th respectively.

Pahang finish the season in second with 43 points, while Melaka are fifth with 33 points.

In the Premier League, Penang is the second team to be promoted to the Super League after they beat Police 2-1 at the Hang Jebat Stadium.

They finished third with 30 points, tied with the Cops, but got promoted thanks to goal difference.

JDT II finished second with 33 points but were not promoted because of their status as feeder club to JDT.

Sabah were the first team to be promoted, and they are champions of the Premier League.
