Football Association of Penang unaware ex-player Lobo not paid salary

GEORGE TOWN: The Football Association of Penang (FAP) was not aware until a few weeks back that their former defender Reinaldo Lobo was not paid since six months ago, said acting president Datuk Abdul Rashid Ismail.

Abdul Rashid, who is also the trustee of FAP, claimed that they do not know much about the issue as they only found out about the matter after the former president (Zairil Khir Johari) stepped down.

He said they are working hard to secure sponsorships to resolve the matter, which also affected other local players who were owed one of two months' pay.

"We are in the midst of looking for a way to resolve the matter by looking for sponsors," he said in a press conference on Tuesday (Jan 2).

He was responding to a report where Lobo was said to have reported the issue to FIFA, claiming that FAP had failed to respond accordingly on the matter.

The Brazilian player remained with the club until his contract expired on Nov 30, was replaced last season when he sustained a serious injury.
