Cool rider: Mohd Ridwan Sahrom has followed in the footsteps of Azizulhasni Awang as the keirin king.

BANGKOK: The burden on his young shoulders was really heavy. And when Mohd Ridwan Sahrom finally won a dramatic men’s keirin final to spark a cycling gold rush at Huamak Velodrome, he broke down in tears.

The 24-year-old squeezed through a small gap coming out of the final bend to finish ahead of 2018 Asian Games keirin champion Jai Angsuthasawit.
