Malaysia to host Final Round of UCI Track Cycling World Cup in 2026


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is set to host the Final Round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup next year.

The prestigious championship and one of the highlights on the track cycling calendar will be held from April 24-26 at the National Velodrome in Nilai.

Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill confirmed that he had received an official notification from UCI regarding Malaysia’s selection as one of the venues for the 2026 Track Cycling World Cup.

“We are grateful to the Malaysian government, especially the Youth and Sports Ministry for their strong support, as well as to UCI for the confidence and trust shown towards Malaysia,” said Amarjit in a statement on Friday (Aug 22).

“This championship will mark a historic moment for cycling in Malaysia and the Asian region. It will also serve as a key qualifying platform for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”

Amarjit, who is also the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president, expressed confidence that all the world’s top riders will be participating at the tournament next year, including national athletes Azizulhasni Awang and Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom.

The last time Malaysia hosted the Track Cycling World Cup was in 2001 in Ipoh.
