Misfortune hits Izzah as she collides with a rider in keirin

PETALING JAYA: National track cyclist Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri’s campaign at the UCI Nations Cup came to an abrupt end as she was involved in an accident in the keirin event on Monday (March 17). 

The 22-year-old collided with another rider, Makaira Wallace of Trinidad and Tobago in the first round repechage in the women’s keirin event as she was making her charge towards the finish line in Konya, Turkiye. 

Izzah suffered a ‘Did Not Finish’ (DNF), and her injuries sustained during the accident is still unknown. 

Previously at the tournament in Turkiye, Izzah had set a new national record in the individual sprint event with a time of 10.578s.
