Elmi suffers injury as crash mars end of LTdL Stage 2 race

BUTTERWORTH: National Team’s Elmi Jumari may be forced to sit out the remainder of Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) after suffering a fractured index finger during Stage 2 of the race on Monday (Sept 30).

Just 150m from the finish line, Elmi was caught in a massive crash involving many riders, including Philippines' Jan Paul Morales and Nusantara rider Mohd Ridwan, who had to be rushed to the hospital.

National team's coach Mohd Yusof Nasir said Elmi suffered a fractured finger.

"Elmi is in a stable condition and has been transferred to a private hospital from the Seberang Jaya Hospital for further evaluation and treatment," said Yusof.

If that wasn’t painful enough, the 34-year-old Elmi has also been fined 200 Swiss francs (RM978.50) by UCI for causing the incident before the finish line.
