Cycling: Azizul withdraws from second leg of Track Nations Cup after injury

PETALING JAYA: Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Azizulhasni Awang (pic) has pulled out of the Track Nations Cup second leg in Cairo this week.

The 35-year-old announced his withdrawal on his Facebook account on Wednesday (March 15), stating that his decision was made on the doctor's advice after he sustained an injury while training in the capital of Egypt.

Azizul's place in the individual keirin and sprint will be taken by Mohd Fadhil Zonis.

Fadhil will ride the team sprint with Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom and Mohd Ridwan Sahrom on Wednesday night.

Azizul, who had corrective heart surgery last April, made a superb start to the year to take silver in the keirin in the first leg of the Track Nations Cup in Jakarta last month.
