Syafiq ends 13-year wait for another national title, Gillian regains women’s prize


PETALING JAYA: Former World Cup champion Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek turned back the clock with a successful charge to his third men’s Open crown while Gillian Lim reclaimed the women’s Open title at the 48th National Championships on Monday.

Syafiq, who previously won in 2009 and 2013, ended a 13-year wait for another national title after coming through the stepladder with victories over two former champions.
