PETALING JAYA: National bowler Nora Lyana Nastasia Norkamal still has three months before the World Championships roll in, but she is already zooming in on getting into the best shape possible.
She plans to use next month’s Hong Kong Open as a timely warm-up ahead of the major event in October.
The 28-year-old Nora, who finished as the runner-up at the Singapore Open last week, is hoping to build nicely towards the world meet in Munich.
"Doing well at the World Championships is my biggest goal. The Hong Kong Open is more of a stepping stone," said Nora, who is currently Asia’s No. 1 ranked bowler.
"I plan to use it as a platform to refine my game plan. The standard of competition at the World Championships will be totally different."
At the previous edition in Hong Kong, Malaysia collected one gold, two silvers and one bronze medal.
As for her immediate task, Nora, who won the Thailand Open title this year, hopes the entire team can help keep Malaysia’s momentum going.
"We have got good momentum going, with both our men’s and women’s teams dominating the podiums. We hope to extend this good run."
