A gold too far

Gloomy finale: Malaysia’s (from left) Ahmad Muaz Fishol and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman squandered a 90-over-pin lead to lose the gold medal in the mixed doubles event to Indonesia’s Ryan Lalisang and Aldila Indryati yesterday.

AFTER a fruitless first three days, veteran bowler Shalin Zulkifli is rallying the troops ahead of the team event showdown today as she bids to match Nurul Huda Abdullah’s all-time SEA Games record of 22 gold medals.

The 41-year-old’s hopes of surpassing the record are over after she finished without a medal for a third successive time in the mixed doubles event at the Conorado Lanes Starmall yesterday.
