Shalin led Malaysia to their first seven gold-medal haul in 1999. She won the All-Events, Masters, doubles, trios and team events. The men won two golds that year.

Not even if Malaysia’s bowlers had won seven gold medals twice – in 1999 in Brunei and in Kuala Lumpur two years later.
