Zii Jia cruises into Canadian Open last four

PETALING JAYA: Independent men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia ended a wait of more than two years to reach the semi-finals after cruising into the last four of the Canadian Open on Friday (July 3).

Zii Jia needed just 34 minutes to beat Taiwan's Wang Po-wei 21-15, 21-13 in their quarter-final.

The last time Zii Jia reached the semi-finals of a tournament was at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he went on to win the bronze medal.

Standing in his way of a place in the final is Japan's Riki Takei.

Zii Jia will head into the match with confidence after beating the world No. 74 in the qualifying rounds of the Australian Open three weeks ago.
