Ling Ching survives Aakarshi scare at Australian Open

PETALING JAYA: Wong Ling Ching had to dig deep before securing her place in the second round of the Australian Open after overcoming India's Aakarshi Kashyap

The world No. 34 defeated Aakarshi 21-19, 19-21, 22-20 in a 75-minute first-round match at the Quaycentre on Olympic Boulevard in Sydney on Wednesday (June 10).

Ling Ching made a strong start but was forced into a decider after failing to close out the match in straight games.

The Sarawakian, however, held her nerve at the crucial moments to secure her place in the second round.

Awaiting her next is Taiwan's Huang Yu-hsun.
