Jun Hao avenges Thomas Cup defeat to Naraoka

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's No. 1 men's singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao got his Indonesian Open campaign off to a winning start after beating world No. 11 Kodai Naraoka on Tuesday (June 2).

In the first-round match at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Jun Hao produced a confident display to defeat the Japanese player 21-17, 21-17 in 50 minutes.

The victory was even sweeter as it avenged his defeat to Naraoka in the Thomas Cup Finals in Horsens last month.

Jun Hao will next face either defending champion Anders Antonsen of Denmark or France's Alex Lanier in the second round.
