Sweet first for Faris as he lifts world doubles title with Liek Hou

PETALING JAYA: Para badminton shuttler Cheah Liek Hou capped off a perfect campaign at the World Championships in Bahrain after he clinched his second gold medal on Saturday (Feb 14). 

Liek Hou and partner Faris Ahmad Azri won the men’s doubles SU5 (upper body impairment) title after they defeated Taiwan’s Fang Jen-yu-Pu Gui-yu 21-11, 21-11 at the Isa Sports City in Manama. 

It was Liek Hou’s seventh doubles world title, and comes after the 37-year-old bagged his ninth men’s singles SU5 title earlier. 

Liek Hou had defeated Jen-yu in the final, winning the match 21-6, 21-11.

For Faris, it was his first world title.
