Aaron-Wooi Yik denied Malaysian Open title by world No. 1 Kim-Seo

BUKIT JALIL: World No. 2 men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik fell short in the Malaysian Open final on Sunday (Jan 11), losing to world No. 1 Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae.

The Malaysian duo, backed by a raucous home crowd at Axiata Arena, fought hard to contain the relentless attacks from the Korean pair, but Won-ho-Seung-jae proved too strong.

After an 64 minutes of intense rallies, Aaron-Wooi Yik went down 15-21, 21-12, 21-18.

Despite the loss, the Malaysian pair earned USD$50,750 (RM207,745) as runners-up, while Won-ho-Seung-jae successfully defended their title, taking home the trophy and USD$107,300 (RM439,232) in prize money.
