Zii Jia withdraws from Australian Open

PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has pulled out of the Australian Open from Nov 18-23 in Sydney.

Zii Jia's name was under the "withdrawn" list for the tournament in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website.

The independent player seems to be still struggling with a back injury that he sustained in his last competitive outing in the China Masters in September.

Zii Jia's latest withdrawal raises doubts on whether he will be able to return to competitions this year.

The 27-year-old has registered for one more tournament this year which is the Syed Modi India International from Nov 25-30.
