Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik exit French Open semi finals

PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik bowed out to Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Shohibul Fikri in the semi finals.

Aaron and Wooi Yik had hoped to avenge their loss to Fajar and Shohibul in the China Open final in July.

They again struggled against the Indonesians and lost 14 21, 19 21 in 40 minutes at the Glaz Arena in Cesson Sevigne on Saturday (October 25).

A disappointed Aaron said he and Wooi Yik lacked consistency during the match.

“It is more about our consistency on court,” he said in a post match interview with the Badminton World Federation.

“We are still making a lot of unforced errors,” he added.

Malaysia’s challenge in the tournament ended with Aaron and Wooi Yik’s defeat.

Fajar and Shohibul, who only combined in July, will face South Korea’s world No. 1 Seo Seung jae and Kim Won ho for the title.

Seo and Kim beat Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 21 9, 19 21, 21 9 to reach the final.
