PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei survived a scare before edging past Taiwan’s Ye Hong-wei and Nicole Chan 22-20, 17-21, 22-20 to reach the French Open quarter-finals.

It was far from an easy outing for Tang Jie-Ee Wei, as the world No. 18 Taiwanese pair put up a strong fight during the second round clash at the Glaz Arena in Cesson-Sevigne on Thursday (Oct 23).

The victory also served as redemption for the Malaysians, who had lost to the same opponents in the second round of the Singapore Open in May.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will next take on Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet in the quarter-finals.
