PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were all smiles after driving home a Mazda each.

The reigning world champions were rewarded after signing an endorsement deal with Mazda Malaysia.

Tang Jie and Ee Wei each received the latest Mazda CX-5 2.5L Turbo model each.

“We are truly honoured to announce that we are now brand ambassadors for Mazda Malaysia,” said Ee Wei via social media.

“Mazda ‘Feel Alive’ spirit perfectly reflects our passion, energy and determination on court.

“A big thank you to Mazda for the trust and belief in us. We are excited to begin this new journey together.”

Tang Jie and Ee Wei posted a photo of them in front of their brand new cars in their designated parking spots at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara.

The deal is another shot in the arm for the world No. 4 pair just three days after they received RM60,000 incentive from Allianz Malaysia Berhad for capturing the world title in Paris in August.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei’s global appeal is set to keep rising after becoming the first Malaysians to win the mixed doubles gold in the world meet, opening up opportunities for more endorsement deals for them.

The duo will next approach the Denmark Open which starts next Tuesday in Odense with a spring in their step.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will be out to continue their fiery form after finishing runners-up in the China Masters in Shenzhen last month.
