PETALING JAYA: Independent men’s singles shuttler Jacky Kok has hit out at the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), alleging that the national body deliberately excluded his name from the entry list for upcoming international tournaments in October.
Jacky expressed his frustration in a post on his personal social media after discovering that his name was not registered for the Sydney International and Malaysia Super100, which will be held in Johor.
"I've had enough. I'm speaking up because this can't keep happening to me or anyone else.
"As an independent player, and for every independent player, BAM ask for names to be submitted 14 days before the official tournament deadline. For the October tournaments, Sydney International and Malaysia Super100, the deadline was Sept 9, 2025, so I submitted my request with an official letter on Aug 23, three days before the required deadline of Aug 26.
"Still, my name was not registered, and I was ignored by the person in charge despite contacting them directly," said Jacky.
Jacky revealed that this was the second time such an incident had happened to him, with the first occurring in March this year.
He described the matter as unacceptable and demanded fairness from BAM.
"My concern is with the person in charge and those responsible for handling these matters. I contacted the person in charge, but received no reply. Does the person in charge believe they have done nothing wrong? We really don't know who else to turn to except them.
"Is help only given to those you favour, while those you don't are ignored? This doesn't feel like a mistake. It feels intentional.
"Players work hard to compete, but we're being held back if even basic procedures are denied. I know this has happened before, and I believe I'm not the only one who has faced it. Others probably went through the same but did not speak up.
"We just want fair treatment," added Jacky.
Jacky was once regarded as a rising prospect in the men’s singles, contributing to Malaysia’s silver medal campaigns at the 2021 Hanoi and 2023 Phnom Penh SEA Games, before being dropped from the national squad in October last year.
