Justin sets up meeting with Zii Jia in Japan Masters

Men's singles shuttler Justin Hoh survived two qualifying round matches to set up a first round clash against fellow Malaysian Lee Zii Jia in the Japan Masters.

PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Justin Hoh will take on fellow Malaysian Lee Zii Jia in the first round of the Japan Masters on Wednesday (Nov 13) after surviving two qualifying rounds.

Justin defeated South Korea's Jeon Hyeok-jin 21-15, 21-15, then fought hard to beat the latter's teammate Cho Geon-yeop 21-15, 20-22, 21-17 in an exhausting 76-minute match at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium on Tuesday (Nov 12).

The 20-year-old, who is currently ranked No. 50 in the world, will next face world No. 7 Zii Jia in the first round in what will be the first meeting in an international tournament between both players.

This is only the second World Tour Super 500 outing for Justin after the Hong Kong Open in September where he went down fighting in three games to Denmark's Rasmus Gemke in the first round.
