Wei Chong-Kai Wun advance to China Open quarters


PETALING JAYA: National men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun secured a spot in the China Open quarter-finals after beating third-seed South Koreans Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae on Thursday (Sept 19).

The world No. 13 Malaysians triumphed 21-18, 21-19 against the reigning world champions at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou, China.

This was the fifth meeting between the pairs, with Wei Chong-Kai Wun now having two wins. They lost their most recent encounter at the Japan Open, where the South Koreans emerged victorious.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun will face compatriots Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in the quarter-finals after they defeated fellow Malaysians Yao Roy King and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi 21-14, 25-23 in the second round.
