Shuttlers arrive home to a hero's welcome

PETALING JAYA: It was a well-deserved hero's welcome for the national badminton team after returning from the Paris Olympics.

The Malaysian shuttlers were greeted with a heartwarming welcome by hundreds of fans at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA) on Wednesday (August 7).

Olympic bronze medal winners Lee Zii Jia, Aaron Chia, and Soh Wooi Yik returned home with cheers from adoring fans and compatriots from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

Loud cheers also greeted first-time Olympians, including women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah and mixed doubles duo Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.

Pearly-Thinaah ended their run in Paris in the semi-finals, while Tang Jie-Ee Wei had a commendable run which ended in the quarter-finals.
