Aaron-Khai Xing take silver at Asian Junior Championships


PETALING JAYA: National boys' doubles shuttlers Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing put in a valiant effort but had to settle for the silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in Yogyakarta.

The top seeds lost 13-21, 11-21 to fifth-seeded Hu Keyuan-Lin Xiangyi of China in the final at the Among Rogo Sports Hall on Sunday (July 7).

This was the third meeting between the pairs, with the Malaysians having won both previous encounters in March at the German Junior and Dutch Junior International.

The last Malaysian boys' pair to win silver at the competition was Ow Yao Han-Yew Hong Kheng in 2009, while Mak Hee Chun-Teo Kok Siang were the last to win gold in 2008.

Meanwhile, men’s singles shuttler Justin Hoh fell short of bagging the Northern Marianas Open title as he lost to Taiwan’s Cheng Kai 12-21, 20-22 in the final.
