PETALING JAYA: World No. 11 Lee Zii Jia was in top form as he stormed into the quarter-finals of the China Masters in Shenzhen on Thursday (Nov 23).

Zii Jia overcame Lu Guangzu of China 21-10, 21-12 in an impressive second round match that lasted for 40 minutes.

The independent shuttler lost in the preliminary rounds of his previous two tournaments – the French Open in Rennes and the Japan Masters in Kumamoto – but has made amends with a strong performance in China.

A good run should give Zii Jia a fighting chance to qualify for the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) World Tour Finals in Hangzhou from Dec 13-17 where the top eight men’s singles will be battling for honours.
