Relief all over as Roslin and BAM reach settlement

PETALING JAYA: Roslin Hashim is relieved to have the defamation suit brought by Datuk Kenny Goh settled amicably.

Former international Roslin apologised to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) secretary general and cleared the air between them yesterday.

Roslin, the defendant, made an open apology to Kenny in front of judge Roz Mawar Rozain at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

In a statement, Roslin said: “I, Roslin Hashim sincerely apologise, with no conditions, to Datuk Kenny for my defamatory remarks against him on my Facebook (Abe Lin) live stream on Jan 19, 2022.

“I regret that my statement has defamed and hurt the reputation of Datuk Kenny, especially among the local badminton fans. I also regret that my harsh remarks were baseless and should not have been made.

“Again, I would like to apologise to Datuk Kenny and hope this apology would clear his name and heal the personal and professional relationship between us.

“I promise that I will never repeat making any hurtful remarks towards Datuk Kenny.”

Roslin wanted to move on from this episode.

“I’m relieved that everything is over. I take what happened as a lesson for me and I want to move on from this,” he said.

“I look forward to working together with Kenny for the sake of our country’s badminton.”

Kenny accepted Roslin’s apology and also echoed that he wanted to look forward.

“I accept the apology and agree with Roslin that we should all move forward from this,” said Kenny.

“I have known Roslin for a very long time and I’m glad this issue has been solved amicably.”

Kenny also insisted that the issue will not affect Roslin’s position in BAM’s technical advisory panel (TAP).

“In the first place, Roslin’s appointment in the TAP was made by the BAM council and is not a decision I made alone,” said Kenny.

“It is a different matter altogether. In the end, badminton is a sport that both us love.”
