KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 2 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik lived dangerously before securing their place in the men’s doubles second round of the Malaysian Masters badminton championships in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday (May 23).
World champions Aaron-Wooi Yik dished out an inconsistent performance but managed to overcome Indonesians Pramudya Kusumawardana-Yeremia Rambitan 21-18, 10-21, 23-21 in 55 minutes.
Pramudya-Yeremia defeated the Malaysian pair to win the Asian Championships in Manila in May last year but Aaron-Wooi Yik defeated the pair in the quarter-finals of the Indonesian Open a month later.
Aaron-Wooi Yik will meet Choi Sol-gyu-Kim Won Ho of South Korea in the second round on Thursday (May 25).
It will be the first meeting between the two pairs.
