Wei Chong-Kai Wun stun Olympic champs to capture Taiwan Open doubles title


PETALING JAYA: National men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun captured the Taiwan Open title after stunning Olympic champions and home favourites Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin in the final on July 24 (Sunday).

The world No 36 Malaysian pair displayed nerves of steel to come out on top against the Taiwanese world No 4 with a thrilling 21-18, 11-21, 21-18 victory in 54 minutes.

This was Wei Chong-Kai Wun's second title of the year after bagging the Syed Modi International in January.

Meanwhile, Lee Yang-Chi-lin's wait for a title since winning gold in the Olympics last year continued.
