Jin Wei may hold key to unlocking the Danes

INDEPENDENT shuttler Goh Jin Wei will be the key when Malaysia take on Denmark in the opening Uber Cup Finals tie tomorrow.

Malaysia and Denmark are in Group C with heavyweights Thailand and Egypt.

In order to make the quarter-finals, Jin Wei and Co must beat the Danish team.

“The presence of Jin Wei has added depth to our team this year and we must take our chances well against Denmark,” said national singles coaching director Wong Choong Hann, who is happy with the form of his players in Bangkok.

2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games champion Jin Wei is expected to take on world No. 22 Line Christophersen in the second singles. The first singles will be played by S. Kisona while the third is likely to be Eoon Xi Quan.

It’ll be tough for Kisona to get the better of Danish top pair Mia Blichfeldt.

Malaysia have a better chance of winning the doubles through world No. 11 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah and Anna Cheong-Teoh Mei Xing (52).

Pearly-Thinaah are expected to face world No. 16 Maiken Fruergaard-Sara Thygesen while Anna-Mei Xing may play against world No. 25 Amalie Magelund-Freja Ravn.
