Daniel downs second seed for showdown with Yee Hern

Title contender: Daniel Elvestly in action during the semi-finals of the 100Plus National Junior Circuit.

PETALING JAYA: A day after top seed Kok Jia Zheng was shockingly shown the exit, more upsets followed at the 100Plus National Junior Circuit first leg as the second seeds in both the Under-16 boys’ and girls’ events were wiped out in the semi-finals.

Emboldened by Wee Yee Hern’s giant-killing act on Thursday where he took down Jia Zheng, Sabah’s joint third-fourth seed Daniel Elvestly came from a game down to record a fine 16-21,21-17,21-14 win over second seed Mohd Zakaria Nazri of Johor at the Selangor Badminton Association Hall yesterday.
