So near, yet so far for Haikal

(First row, from left) Podium finishers Jacky Kok Jing Hong (boys singles bronze), Mohd Haikal Nazri and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi (boys singles silver) and Low Yeen Yuan (mixed doubles silver) posed their medals with teammates after the prize presentation of the Dutch Junior International on Sunday

PETALING JAYA: There was no title joy for shuttler Mohd Haikal Nazri despite making two finals in the Dutch Junior International — but he wasn’t disheartened.

On Sunday, Haikal and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi squandered a glorious chance to bag the boys’ doubles title as they went down 23-25,22-24 to Indonesia’s Muhammad Rayhan Nur Fadillah-Rahman Hidayat at the Derigo Badminton Hall in Haarlem.
