Unstoppable Ziyad lands fifth Asean Para Games gold


PETALING JAYA: 2016 Paralympic champion Ziyad Zolkefli continued his dominance at the Asean Para Games after clinching his fifth consecutive F20 shot putt gold medal at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on Friday. 

Ziyad hurled 16.81m to secure gold as Malaysia's para athletics team shone with a seven-gold performance. 

Compatriot Awi Alif picked up the silver with 13.80m and Thailand's Boonkong Sanepot won the bronze with 13.68m. 

The athletics team have contributed 16 gold medals so far.  

Malaysia are currently third in the overall standings with 33 gold, 34 silver and 42 bronze medals with two days of competition remaining.
