Latif leaps past world record to bag World Championships gold

PETALING JAYA: National para athlete Abdul Latif Romly has rewritten his long jump world record in the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India, on Sunday (Sept 28).

In the T20 (intellectual impairment) long jump final, the 28-year-old bagged the gold with a jump of 7.67m, eclipsing his previous mark of 7.64m recorded during the 2018 Para Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This is the fifth time Abdul Latif has won the world championship gold.

His previous victories were in 2015 (Doha), 2017 (London), 2023 (Paris) and 2024 (Kobe).
