PETALING JAYA: Another day of inclement weather hampered many events in the Asian Track and Field Championships in Gumi, South Korea, but there was one good news for the national team.
Malaysia qualified for the men’s 4x400m final by clocking a time of 3:12.23 yesterday.
The quartet of Umar Osman, Mohd Sayyid Amin Roslan, Mohd Fakrul Afizul Nasir and Luqmanul Hakim Khairul Akmal were the sixth fastest out of the eight teams taking part.
India were the fastest in the heats with the quartet of Rince Joseph, Dharmveer Choudhary, Manu Thekkinalil Saji and Mohit Kumar, clocking 3:06.28.
But the rest of the Malaysians had to wait till night to compete due to downpours.
Meanwhile, in Florida, national 100m sensation Mohd Azeem Fahmi qualified for the quarter-finals of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Divisional First Round on Wednesday.
Only 23 sprinters got into the next round, with Azeem clocking the seventh fastest time of 10.26s.
