PETALING JAYA: National runner Shereen Samson Vallabouy got her outdoor season to a good start after clocking impressive times in the 100m and 200m at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic on Friday (April 4).
The 26-year-old came in second in the 100m preliminaries with a time of 11.72s, behind Bahrain’s Edidiong Odiong with 11.52s, while Jahhi Clarke Broomfield of the United States took third with 11.73s.
In the 200m heats, Shereen came in second with her time of 23.82s, once again behind Odiong with 23.53, while Angelica Frederick of the United States came in third with 24.24s.
The Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) said Shereen has yet to decide if she will compete in the 100m and 200m finals on Saturday (April 5) or focus on the 400m race, which also takes place on Saturday.
“We are looking forward to an update from Shereen and wish her the best,” MAF shared on Facebook.
Shereen currently holds personal best times of 11.61s in the 100m and 23.33s in the 200m.
