Mohd Irfan sets new discus record

KUALA LUMPUR: SEA Games gold medallist Mohd Irfan Shamsuddin rewrote his national discus record by more than 10cm at the IAAF Challenge athletics championships in Melbourne.

The towering 19-year-old athlete hurled to a new distance of 54.79m en route to a bronze medal on Saturday. He erased his previous mark of 54.66m set at the Sukma (Malaysia Games) in Kangar last year.
