Leicester, you have my respect!

WHAT a run they are on at the moment!

Whenever I have watched Leicester play this season, Andy Townsend's customary line in FIFA 2014 above resonates in my ears.

Seriously, Claudio Ranieri’s team has surprised us all! Players who were deemed average last season are playing world-class football!

They are not playing like the defensive and boring Greece who won the Euro 2004! The likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Marc Albrighton and Ngolo Kante are passing intricately among one other, reminiscent of Barcelona!

Yesterday, they beat Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad...At the Etihad! Once a fortress for City, Leicester made them eat humble pie as they punished City's naivety in defence.

Watching Mahrez going past defenders, Vardy making Martin Demichelis look his age and Kante teaching Yaya Toure that work rate is key in the Premier League are pleasing to the heart and soul.

My friend and I disagreed about their tactics as he said they played a simple 4-4-2 formation while I said that while they look like a 4-4-2, during matches they move around like a 4-3-3.

Whatever the formation, things seem to be moving well for them. In midfield and defence, they are disciplined and follow their shape.

In the front third, whether they deploy a front three or two wingers and two strikers, they have the freedom to move around.

Mahrez has the freedom to move freely and it has paid dividends. Assists and goals were flowing for him and he has been a revelation this season.

I may sound like I am exaggerating but I think he is the best Premier League player this season.

Then you have Jamie Vardy whose work rate is second to none. It's been a while since I have seen an English striker play with this such passion.

If he wins the Golden Boot this season, I wouldn't be surprised. He thoroughly deserves it and England will surely hope that he brings such form to the Euros (if he’s picked).

Their defence in particular have surprised me! Wes Morgan and Robert Huth are built like trucks but speedsters can go past them easily.

They struggled last season with the pace of the league, but intelligence and strength have made them informidable. Morgan's leadership and Huth's efficiency has helped this side ship in less goals.

These players are average but they have exceeded expectations. The question is... Can they continue this form?

Many expected them to slow down during Christmas but Leicester proved the doubters wrong.

They lost their Boxing day match against Liverpool but after that, they grew stronger and now they are six points ahead of City in the Premier League standings.

With no FA and Carling Cup commitments, Ranieri and his team will only need to concentrate on the league. Instead of putting expectations on themselves, it is best for them to enjoy each game.

Play with fun and freedom and they title might be theirs! The players have got the consistency, now they just need to focus and surprise their doubters.

After beating Liverpool and City in the last two weeks, confidence will surely be sky high for the foxes. They know the sky is the limit and they will go all out to upset the odds!

Deep inside my heart, I want Arsenal to win the league but looking at how Leicester is performing... It would be amazing to see them lift the title.
