THE conservation community mourns the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, whose remarkable life of service extended to various causes close to the hearts of Malaysians, including being the voice for the protection of our natural heritage and survival of the Malayan tiger, our national animal.

In 2019, she became patron of the Save Our Malayan Tiger Campaign 2019–2020, a national campaign initiated by the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) Ministry (then known as Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry) together with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan).
