Disease prevention a critical aspect of healthcare

THE Health Minister’s challenge for directors at public hospitals is commendable, “Given 100 days to improve hospitals” (The Star, Sept 28).

Improving waiting times, working conditions and the patient experience is important. But in discussing overcrowded hospitals, staff shortages and rising healthcare costs, we risk overlooking the elephant in the room – the patients themselves.
