Testing public health preparedness for rabies

THE death of a 31-year-old man in Kedah from rabies should not be treated simply as a tragic medical case. It should be treated as a test of Malaysia’s preparedness for rabies management.

The first human rabies death reported in Kedah since 1998, the man who was from Kubang Pasu was bitten by a stray dog in August and died on Sept 27.
