Withdraw vastly inadequate Freedom of Information Bill 2026

THE Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ), Article 19, Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Center) and the other undersigned civil society organisations are profoundly disappointed by the version of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill that was tabled on July 13 for the first reading at the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of Malaysia’s Parliament.

We acknowledge the Malaysian government's efforts to implement dedicated federal Freedom of Information legislation.
