Malaysia at the centre of a global social security conversation

FROM Sept 29 to Oct 3, 2025, Kuala Lumpur will host the World Social Security Forum (WSSF 2025), the flagship event of the International Social Security Association. Convened every three years, the forum is the largest and most influential global platform dedicated to social protection. This year, it comes to Malaysia, hosted by the Social Security Organisation (Socso) in partnership with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the Retirement Fund Incorporated, and the Malaysia Social Protection Council.

Over 1,500 delegates from more than 130 countries are expected to gather at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Among them will be ministers, policymakers, institutional leaders, technical experts and international organisations –an unprecedented congregation of voices shaping the future of social security. For Malaysia, this is more than a logistical undertaking. It is an opportunity to serve as a global convenor of policy debate and innovation at a time when social protection systems worldwide are under mounting strain.
